Gareth Hardy and Richard Maxwell will be the Lib Dem candidates for the new Soho and Jewellery Quarter ward in this May’s Council elections. The new ward covers Soho, Soho Road, Spring Hill, Lodge Road, Winson Green and the Jewellery Quarter.
Gareth is a local resident and community campaigner who is actively involved with local projects and groups. Richard is an engineer and community activist.
Gareth and Richard are extremely active in the local community. Gareth is a member of the Local Neighbourhood Forum, is on the police Neighbourhood Tasking Group and is a member of the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust (JQDT).
Both Gareth and Richard do regular ward inspections to highlight local issues and get feedback from residents. Gareth also runs local community and social events, along with being a keen volunteer at local festivals and events.
The Soho and Jewellery Quarter Team has a tremendous reputation for working all year round to tackle local problems. This is very different to some parties which appear at election time, looking for votes, and then disappear again.
“The last few years have been busy ones for your local Liberal Democrat Team. I have campaigned to oppose cuts to Local Community Policing and help residents cope with a failing Council waste service. We now have major new challenges, as well as further failures by the Labour Council. I am determined to keep working for our community and hope you will give Richard and me your support on election day”.
“Working alongside Gareth to tackle local issues of crime, housing and rubbish collections, I understand the strengths of our community and the challenges we face. People know they can come to the Lib Dems locally to get things done and that we support local groups in their work for the area. Please vote for Gareth and myself on May 3rd so we can represent you and fight for you.”
